Tuberculosis Surveillance
TTUHSC El Paso requires baseline and annual tuberculosis skin testing (TST) for all occupational groups as defined in the EP 7.7 - Tuberculosis Skin Testing Policy. TST are given in the Occupational Health Office located in the basement of the Clinical Science Bldg (CSB), room B03. The TST must be read by the Occupational Health Office or by an authorized TST reader. If your TST is not read, it must be repeated.
Newly hired TTUHSC El Paso employees must complete the TB screening process prior to the start of employment date.
Personnel who have tested "positive" in the past are required to have one baseline chest x-ray and then complete the Tuberculosis Screening form.
At any time, if any employee has symptoms of TB (persistent cough, low grade fevers, unexpected weight loss, night sweats) further evaluation must be done.
All eligible personnel must participate annually. Failure to be tested at least annually may result in suspension or termination of employment.
