President's Staff

As senior executive assistant to the president, Vanessa reports directly to the president, providing support to the president and managing the daily operations of the Office of the President. She also supports many administrative functions, human resource needs, the university's preparations for Board of Regents meetings, executive position searches and other miscellaneous administrative duties.

Vanessa has been with Texas Tech Health El Paso for 21 years, previously working for a Fortune 100 company. Vanessa is a native El Pasoan and proud graduate of Loretto Academy. Her academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a CIS concentration and an M.B.A. in health systems from the University of Texas at El Paso.

She is an active member of the national Dean's Assistant Group, currently acting as past-chair, the National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education, Leadership Women, and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs. She was selected as a Hunt-Aspen Fellow and participated in the Socrates Program for the Aspen Institute. She served as chair of the Local Employee Committee for the State Employee Charitable Campaign’s El Paso region. She enjoys watching football on Sundays and spending time with her husband and children.
