Rotations
The fellowship year is divided into three-month longitudinal rotations, during which our fellows rotate both within the TTUHSC El Paso system and with private community physicians and providers. These rotations include orthopaedic surgery, radiology, physical therapy, hand surgery, podiatry, and pediatric orthopaedics. Here is a sample block:

Ski Medicine Rotation
Each fellow will spend two weeks rotating in Park City, Utah, seeing patients at the area ski clinics. Here, the fellows will be exposed to the evaluation and management of acute winter sports-related injuries and environmental concerns.
Didactics
Weekly, Thursday morning didactics covering topics in alignment with the CAQ examination outline are held at the clinic. Quarterly journal clubs are held either at the clinic or an off-site location. Fellows will also be responsible for presenting periodic lectures to family medicine residents.
Ultrasound
The use of ultrasound in sports medicine is quickly becoming the standard of care. In addition to the regular use of the ultrasound in the clinic for diagnostic and procedure guidance purposes, weekly ultrasound practice sessions will be held.
Conferences
Fellows will attend the AMSSM Annual Conference in the spring. Preparation of at least one case abstract is expected for this conference.
