Residency Program

Greetings!

To quote Marty Robbins, “Down in the West Texas town of El Paso,” there lies a secret: We have a great family medicine residency program. We are proud of our gem in the desert Southwest and can’t wait to share it. What makes our program so unique?  I’m glad you asked. Let me tell you about a few of the highlights:

  • The city and community. To start, El Paso is a fantastic place to live, train, and practice. It has all the amenities of a large metropolitan area, but has a very small town feel. It boasts a strong, tightknit community for whom I am honored to provide care. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is plenty to do within a two-hour drive. And did I mention the weather? If you like sunny weather, this is the place for you.
  • The Border. Practicing on the United States-Mexico border affords our residents unique experiences that you won’t find in other locales. Not only do we care for the underserved population in El Paso, but our residents care for patients from Mexico presenting with advanced and/or rare diseases. It is a unique experience with a diverse population where you will learn skills that you can take with you anywhere!
  • Research:Our department boasts a robust research division, with focus on cancer screening and obesity treatment. Our research associates are a great resource, guiding scholarly activities and advising journal clubs.
  • Three Curricular Tracks: The residents have the opportunity to participate in the Integrative Medicine Track in conjunction with the University of Arizona Integrative Medicine in Residency program, the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Track for our Osteopathic residents, and the Sports Medicine Track along with our Sports Medicine fellowship.

Please browse our page to meet our residents and faculty, explore our curriculum, and see how we are training our physicians for the border and beyond!
