Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Track

Overview:

The Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine track provides the opportunity for interested PGY-2 and PGY-3 osteopathic residents to seek additional experience and exposure when treating patients with various conditions amenable to Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). The purpose of this track is to help residents incorporate OMT into clinical practice while educating allopathic peers about OMT. The OMM Track resident will complete one scholarly activity in relation to OMT/OMM.

OMT Clinic:

OMM Track residents will participate in weekly OMT clinics, as rotation schedules allow.  Residents are expected to perform the full history, physical exam, OMT and documentation/billing.

Didactics:

The resident will attend bi-monthly OMT didactics. OMT Didactics sessions will provide residents with more in-depth instruction of common OMT modalities techniques and a chance to practice skills not covered during clinical skills session. Examples of this include modalities such as Functional Positional Release or Balanced ligamentous tension.

Clinical Skills Session:

Residents will lead discussion and case presentation and be expected to be “table leaders” during OMT Clinical Skills Sessions.
