EMR Upgrade and Patient Portal Go-live on June 30th, 2014!

EMR 9.8

We are upgrading our Centricity EMR system on June 30th 2014 in order to meet 2014 Meaningful Use requirements. The upgraded EMR includes enhancements that will improve patient care and clinical workflows.

We have scheduled sessions during the month of June to present the enhancements to clinicians and clinical staff and we plan to schedule a few refresher sessions during the month of July. We will send a flyer for the scheduled sessions so that you can add it to your calendar and attend if you’d like.

We will also be sending out an e-mail with information on how to access videos that detail the EMR enhancements and workflow changes.

Patient Portal

We are also going live with our Texas Tech Patient Portal on June 30th. The patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient 24-hour access to personal health information from anywhere with an internet connection. Patients can view clinical list items in their chart such as: lab results, diagnosis list, medications, allergies, etc.

Our Texas Tech Patient portal allows for secure e-mail correspondence between patient and clinic/provider. The patient can use their secure e-mail to request appointments, referrals, refills, etc. These messages will NOT go directly to any physician inbox, all messages sent from the patient will go to the clinic inbox and will be routed to the appropriate person to manage.

Documenting Patient Understanding

In order to document that the patient understands the instructions provided to them during the visit, you can follow one of the workflows below:

Using CCC (GE) Forms

The Patient Understanding form is found at the end of your visit after the Meaningful Use Criteria form. You can simply check off one of the patient understanding options to have it documented in your note

Using Custom Forms

The patient understanding buttons are located on the Impression and Plan form at the end of the visit. Depending on the clinic you are in, the Impression & Plan form will look a little different, but the patient understanding buttons will always be found next to your plan.
