Adding a Referring Provider to a Referral

You will now be required to select a referring provider when sending referrals from EMR . You will need to be inside the orders module to do this.

  • Select the Specialists Referrals custom list

  • Add your referral by clicking on the appropriate checkbox

  • Make sure to attach a diagnosis to the referral by selecting one from the right hand side column of Potential Diagnosis and moving it over with the arrow << button

  • Complete the Referral Administration section from the Order Details tab including End Date or Duration and Max Visits fields

  • Add a Referring To provider by clicking on the … Image06button next to the Referring To field

  • Type a name, organization, specialty, and/or city to find correct provider

  • Click Search

  • Select appropriate provider

  • Click OK

  • Click Sign Order to complete referral

Note: If you are a resident make sure the Authorized by selected is your attending physician.

The referrals section has changed inside the form please refer to screenshot below for changes.

    • The EMR department has a new number. Please dial 215-4020 to reach us.

EMR Known Issues

There are currently 3 EMR Known Issues:
    • We are working with UMC and ECH to stop getting lab results and imaging results for inpatients.
    • We are working on mapping of labs in Flowsheets.
    • We are working on Faculty not getting Resident Labs.
