Please read the information on this page and use the links below to navigate through the orientation process. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the services our school offers. Please be sure to review your program-specific information for additional orientation requirements.

 

It is critical to activate your eRaider account as soon as possible. This account gives you access to your TTUHSC El Paso email and many of our online resources. If you have been a student within the past six months, then your eRaider account should still be active. Upon acceptance to the program, you should have received an email with your eRaider activation code.

You must have your eRaider activated to access your email account. All program-related information will be sent to TTUHSC El Paso email. Personal email addresses will not be utilized for program correspondence.

  4. The faculty member will contact the student. It is at the faculty member’s discretion to allow more time for an assignment due to IT issues.

Canvas is the learning management system used by Hunt School of Nursing students to access courses online.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

 

In accordance with HSCEP OP 10.20, all students are required to complete and clear a criminal background check (CBC) prior to enrollment in the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing (GGHSON). Students are responsible for their own CBC and any associated fees.

Distance education R.N. to B.S.N. and graduate students must have a current, unencumbered state nursing license and have cleared the CBC process through the TBON or an appropriate out-of-state licensing authority.

In accordance with HSCEP OP 10.20, additional background checks are required after a break in enrollment.

If an applicant believes the record contains errors and notifies the school in writing of his/her intent to challenge the report, matriculation is placed on hold pending the outcome of the challenge. Should the applicant fail to notify the school of his/her intent to challenge the record, or if it is determined that the record is accurate, the admission offer will be withdrawn.

To protect the health of our TTUHSC El Paso community, all entering students are required to provide proof of the immunizations listed below. Immunization requirements are based on the regulations, guidelines and recommendations by the Texas Administrative Code 25 §97.64

Immunization requirements and titers must be submitted to the Office of Occupational Health electronically by uploading documents to the to the OmniMD portal.

OmniDM Portal Information

First, you will need to register by visiting the OmniMD Portal and clicking on the ‘New User Registration.’ Complete all of the required fields.

Once the account is created, follow the steps below to submit your documents.

  1. Click on Messages.
  2. Click on ‘New Message’
  3. On the ‘To’ field, search for Maria Ramirez, select Maria Ramirez.
  4. On the Attach File, click on ‘Browse’ to upload your documentation.
  5. On the Notes, enter any information/message for the Occupational Health Office.
  6. Finally, click on Send Message.

Once the documents have been reviewed by the Occupational Health Office, you will be notified if you are pending any documentation. Be sure to periodically check your @ttuhsc.edu email account for updates.

If applicable, your admission is contingent upon the department’s receipt of official transcript(s) verifying in-progress coursework and/or an earned Associate of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited college. All official transcripts must be received by the designated deadlines outlined on the contingent offer letter.

You must purchase your permit before the day of student orientation. The parking sticker must be displayed on your windshield on the first day of class.

Distance education students (R.N. to B.S.N and M.S.N) are NOT required to purchase a parking permit but are encouraged to purchase if planning to visit campus

Visiting distance education students must contact the Traffic and Parking Office for parking arrangements prior to arrival.  You may contact the Office of Student Affairs for assistance. 

Do not park in Visitor Parking spaces or you will be ticketed.

Please click on the TTUHSC El Paso Library link below, scroll down to the bottom left side of the page, and click on the Library Cards icon. You will be asked to sign-in with your eRaider username and password. You will then be directed to a registration page; please complete the registration process. The TTUHSC El Paso Library will process your registration and send you an email containing a printable library bar code.

TTUHSC El Paso Student Counseling Services are provided through students’ payment of the Student Services Fee. These resources are provided to enhance wellness by providing you, and any dependents you have, the opportunity to manage life’s problems before they become serious and impair your academic and professional performance.

These services include:

  • Short-term counseling sessions (Individual, Couple and Family Counseling).
  • Providers in El Paso and via telepsychiatry so that you can choose the right provider for you and make your own appointment.
  • Confidentiality assured. TTUHSC El Paso receives no information with student names related to student counseling services.

Health Insurance Coverage

Students are expected to maintain a general state of good health. The Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing does not provide health insurance for students or their dependents. Students are required to maintain health insurance coverage for each semester of enrollment and be prepared to provide proof of coverage at any time during a semester. Failure to maintain coverage can result in exclusion from clinical practice, holds on records and potential course failure(s). Medical bills incurred by a student are the responsibility of the student.

Academic Health Plans (AHP)

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso offers health insurance coverage to enrolled students. Students may enroll in the plan if they are registered in seven (7) or more credit hours. For information on AHP, visit https://ttuhscep.myahpcare.com/.

The Office of Student Services is a centralized information office that provides an array of student support services. This office collaborates with the Office of Student Affairs to offer the best assistance for aid in the success of TTUHSC El Paso students.
