You will be contacted via the ERAS or Thalamus portal to schedule an interview.
We accept 10 residents a year.
All communications with the program should be through the ERAS portal.
We highly discourage candidates trying to reach the program by phone, or work email.
Application Process
Please review the application requirements for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Transitional Year Residency program. The Texas Tech Health El Paso Transmountain Transitional Year Residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and accepts applications only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a graduate from a medical school in the United States or Canada that is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada (RCPSC) or
- Be a graduate from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
The following documents are required for your application to be considered complete:
- ERAS application
- Official transcript of USMLE/COMLEX scores
- Curriculum Vitae
- Personal Statement (1-2 pages)
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
- Documentation for the completion of Step 1/Level 1 must be included in the application
- Steps 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK)/Level 2-CE must be completed before starting the program.
- Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE) when provided by the medical school
- Official Medical School Transcript (transcribed in English)
- Medical School Diploma (if applicant has completed medical education prior to date of interview)
No minimum USMLE/ COMLEX scores are needed to apply to the program. Previous experience in a U.S. clinical laboratory/formally evaluated clinical rotation or research experience in the U.S. is not required.
