What is the Family Medicine and Surgery Block?
The Family Medicine/Surgery rotation is an integrated 16 week block during which students will be exposed to both surgical and family medicine services.
During the surgery segment of the rotation, students spend six weeks on general surgery and four weeks on surgical electives. Students are to spend no more than four continuous weeks in any one discipline.
During the family medicine segment of the rotation, students will spend four weeks at the Texas Tech Family and Community Medicine Clinic on Kenworthy and two weeks with a community family physician/preceptor. For more information on family medicine and the community clinics, please click here.
