While the term healthy lifestyle behaviors encompasses a variety of areas, the current focus of the wellness program is to look at improvements that can be made to address coping skills and resiliency, healthy eating, daily physical activity, and restful sleep.

What is Burnout?

The Agency for Healthcare Research and quality (2017) states, “burnout is a long-term stress reaction marked by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a lack of sense of personal accomplishment”.

Consequences of Burnout (Mayo Clinic, 2018)

Ignored or unaddressed job burnout can have significant consequences, including:

  • Excessive stress
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Sadness, anger or irritability
  • Alcohol or substance misuse
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Vulnerability to illnesses
