A word from Program Leadership:

Thank you for considering our new psychiatry residency training program. This partnership is as unique as El Paso itself, a “bridge” linking a state medical institution and private hospital.

Not only is our program new, but it is unique in many other ways. We collaborate and share resources with our sister facility at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso campus. Joining our program will ensure you will participate in providing mental health services to a wide-range of socioeconomic sectors, including a border community. Our patient base is highly diverse and includes patients privately insured, uninsured and underinsured; patients with serious, persistent mental illness as well as high functioning ones. You will experience, firsthand ,the different parts of the U.S. mental health care system and how these sectors impact patient care. You will share in providing excellent service through community, governmental and private mental health care delivery systems.

Residents will engage in a range of research opportunities in a variety of settings depending on their areas of interest. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus provide residents with expert researchers and statisticians to facilitate their work.

El Paso is fortunate to have great weather, friendly people, outdoor activities and a low cost of living. You may be surprised to know that we are two hours away from a winter ski resort in Ruidoso, New Mexico!
