Background
A community-based education and outreach program to prevent obesity-related cancers through increased physical activity and improved nutrition.
Overview of Program
This program takes on a three-pronged approach to addressing obesity prevention in El Paso County.
- Using promotoras to disseminate information on physical activity and nutrition, resources to be active and to eat healthy.
- Educate physicians and healthcare workers on how to address obesity in a clinic setting and provide them with a toolkit to use in their clinics.
- Provide support for sustainable infrastructure for the Border Coalition for Fitness.
Eligibility Criteria
Adults 18 years and older.

Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.
Program Outcomes
Increase knowledge of obesity-related cancers, increase engagement of physical activity and healthy eating, reduction in the burden of obesity in El Paso County.
