Admissions Policies for Non-Residents of Texas/JAMP

You are currently viewing the 2016–17 PLFSOM school catalog.

Non-resident applicants to the participating TMDSAS Texas schools are not subject to the Texas Match. Acceptance of non-resident, interviewed applicants begins on October 15. TTUHSC El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine is a Texas state school and is required by law to have 90 percent of the entering class made up of qualified Texas residents. Residency is determined according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Rules and Regulations for Determining Residency. Residency information is available on the TMDSAS website. TMDSAS will make an initial determination of each applicant’s residency status.

Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP)

JAMP is a special program created to assist and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged students from Texas pursuing a medical education and supported by continuing appropriation from the Texas Legislature. JAMP students who satisfy the program requirements are guaranteed admission to a medical school in Texas. Up to 10% of the entering class may consist of students in this program. All JAMP students are also interviewed and ranked for the separate JAMP matches.
