Getting Started

Are there any requirements for meeting with a tutor?

MSTC services are provided to all Foster School of Medicine and Hunt School of Dental Medicine students at no cost, regardless of the subject, level of ability, or need for learning accommodations. The only request we have is that you be committed to your own success.

How do I set up an individual or small group session?

Individual and small group tutoring sessions must be set up through our landing page on Tutor Matching Services. You must create an account using your TTUHSC.edu email account in order to schedule a tutoring session.

When is tutoring available?

Tutoring services are available year-round. As medical students, each Teaching Assistant has a different schedule. You and your Teaching Assistant will work together to determine a time to meet, which works with both of your schedules. Typically, all tutoring services are provided on campus; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all tutoring services will be conducted via Webex or GoBoard.

What if I am not sure if tutoring is beneficial for me?

Most students can benefit students, whether their goal is to remediate an exam or refine their academic performance. If you’re not sure how you can improve your academic strategies, please contact the Director of Student Success at glenn.yri@ttuhsc.edu to schedule a meeting. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss past academic performance as well as your strengths and potential areas of improvement.
