Charmaine Mora-Ozuna identifies as a Mexicana from Los Angeles, California, and calls Atlanta, Georgia, her home. She is a first-generation college graduate from Georgia State University who pursued her master’s in mental health counseling at Florida State University. She is a bilingual and bicultural therapist who serves marginalized communities across the lifespan in community mental health clinics and hospital settings. Charmaine’s research interests focus on trauma and resilience in the Latinx community. She is determined to make a lasting impact on the mental health system by fostering mental health literacy and increasing access to culturally and linguistically relevant services across the nation.
Charmaine sought to complete her internship with EPPIC due to the expansive opportunities to work with a diverse population in the Borderland. She is grateful for the support of the EPPIC staff and her supervisors. Charmaine feels right at home with the fantastic Mexican food in El Paso and the personalismo that radiates within the training program and the community at large. She loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, dancing, and eating!
