Research
The research component of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation has been steadily growing the past few years, thanks to our new faculty and staff. We currently have 7 faculty members, all conducting research in their respective orthopaedic specialties, and one research coordinator. We are looking to grow our department more as both patient and research needs present.
As a border city, El Paso presents a unique population of orthopaedic injuries and conditions. Catering to this special populace through both clinical care and research is imperative to improving care and outcomes for our community.
Thanks to our combined Residency Program , our residents have the distinctive opportunity of conducting research projects under both TTUHSC EP and WBAMC faculty. Medical students also greatly benefit from this, and a number of incoming MS1s each year help to kick-start impactful research (that can also count towards their SARP requirement!).
