Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: Excellence in Academics

  1. Provide a comprehensive background of didactic instruction and clinical experiences that address the full scope of the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
  2. Prepare residents to obtain board certification by the ABOMS.
  3. Promote lifelong learners through use of contemporary technology, continuing education, attendance at professional meetings, consultation of journals, and other forms of educational materials.

Goal 2: Excellence in Clinical Care

  1. Provide comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical care for patients of all ages.
  2. Develop and maintain an appropriate level of service to the community by participation in trauma emergency call, cleft lip and palate care, and other patient service programs.
  3. Obtain hospital privileges upon completion of the program.

Goal 3: Excellence in Scholarship

  1. Encourage and support the participation of faculty and residents in scholarly activities.
  2. Encourage and support the attendance of faculty and residents at professional meetings.

Goal 4: Excellence in Service

  1. Enhance leadership skills by encouraging resident participation in hospital governance.
  2. Foster a spirit of community service through participation in charitable activities of the community and the dental profession.
