Program Overview
The Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine proudly offers a comprehensive four-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). Our program is designed to provide:
- A rich and extensive surgical training experience.
- Broad clinical exposure.
- Significant patient volume within the El Paso region and beyond.
Clinical Training and Experience
Residents gain firsthand experience in a variety of clinical settings, including:
- High Desert Oral and Facial Surgery
- University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC)
- El Paso Children’s Hospital (EPC)
Our program serves the diverse population of El Paso and acts as a key referral center in the region, ensuring residents are exposed to a wide range of cases and clinical environments.

Admission Requirements
- Must be graduate of a dental school in the U.S. or Canada that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
- Must demonstrate outstanding academic ability
- Must demonstrate maturity, judgment and ambition
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
How to Apply
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program participates in the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) for application and the National Dental Matching program for selection.
