Special Systems and Lock Shop Services
The Special Systems and Lock Shop Services division is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and oversight of critical building systems that support life safety, access, and operational continuity across Texas Tech Health El Paso campus. This department provides comprehensive support for clinical, research, and educational facilities, ensuring all systems meet the functional demands and regulatory requirements, scientific advancement, and academic operations.
Special Systems Services
Special Systems personnel oversee a range of essential life safety and door operations including:
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of fire alarm panels, detectors, strobes, and pull stations
- Coordination of required testing, inspections, and maintenance procedures
- Collaboration with Safety Services and local fire authorities
- Sprinkler and Fire Suppression Systems
- Oversight of wet and dry sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and suppression valves
- Coordination of inspection and maintenance with certified contractors
- Elevator Systems
- Management of routine service, repairs, and inspections for passenger and service elevators
- Ensures compliance with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
- Coordination with vendors for modernization projects and emergency calls
Lock Shop Services
The Lock Shop maintains the physical access for all Texas Tech Health El Paso facilities, providing:
- Issuance, tracking, and management of physical keys and key control systems
- Installation, repair, and replacement of locks, door hardware, closers, and cylinders
- Rekeying services for departmental changes, relocations, or increased security needs
- Management of master key systems to maintain secure, tiered access levels
- Collaboration with departments to plan secure access to sensitive areas (e.g., labs, exam rooms, storage)
