Planning Guidelines

Educational activities planned through the Office of CPE must meet Joint Accreditation criteria and institutional requirements. Depending on the identified need, activities may be designed for the healthcare team or for a single profession.

CPE Involvement

The Office of CPE must be involved in planning, implementation, and evaluation of all accredited activities.

Educational Design

Activities must address identified practice gaps and support improvement in competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes.

Audience

Activities may be developed for interprofessional teams or single-profession learners, depending on the educational need.

Planning and Faculty

Planners and faculty should be chosen for their expertise. Learning objectives must be measurable and aligned with the identified gap.

Independence and Disclosure

All activities must be independent and free from commercial bias. Relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies must be disclosed and mitigated before the activity.

Commercial Support and Marketing

Commercial support, and marketing materials must be managed through the Office of CPE. Accreditation and credit statements will be provided by The Office of CPE.

Evaluation

Activities must include evaluation of their impact on learning and practice. For regularly scheduled series, evaluation may be conducted on an aggregate basis (e.g., quarterly).
