Community-Based Education
For students
Desert Mountain AHEC provides health profession students with a real-life experience in community and rural settings with activities that include:

Partnering with universities and health profession training programs across the state.

Recruit preceptors.

Assisting students with selecting the community-based experience that meets their needs.

Providing opportunities to spend time in a community clinical setting, and to interface with multiple health disciplines.
For professionals
Our goal is to increase career satisfaction in health care professionals by providing technical assistance and free, low-cost continuing opportunities.
Activities include

Surveying health care professionals and facilities to determine continuing education needs.

Organizing continuing education programs for community health workers (promotoras) to meet identified needs.

Promoting and assisting with the continuing education events sponsored by our affiliated partners.

Providing information about available resources to health care providers from rural and underserved areas.

Partnering with public health and other community agencies to disseminate information related to physical, behavioral – emotional , mental health and public health issues.
