Institutional Faculty Development Program (IFDP) XIX

 

IFDP

The Institutional Faculty Development Program (IFDP) is a comprehensive course that extends over nine months. It is offered once a year and accommodates faculty members from the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, L. Frederick Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine, clinical faculty members of affiliated institutions, and community faculty. The IFDP is designed to help our faculty members understand the full range of academic responsibilities, enhance their teaching and assessment skills, develop the skills of scholarship, understand the steps of academic advancement and establish a network of colleagues.

Target Audience

TTUHSC El Paso institutional faculty, staff, community faculty, and any interested health care provider (physicians, nurses, etc.) from affiliated institutions.

CME/CNE Credits

All of the eLearning activities are open via self-enrollment, and many of them will provide CME and CNE credit.

Teaching Adult Teaching and Learning Course Intended to improve the process of creating your learning objectives, applying different learning formats (e.g., large group sessions, small group facilitation, team-based learning (TBL), role playing,clinical and bedside teaching), and developing and analyzing different types of learner assessment. 10 Enroll here
Building Quality Online Courses This course is a self-paced introduction that sets the foundation for creating a quality online course. This course covers a great deal of information that will help you in your course creation. 8 Enroll here
Teaching Quality Online Courses This short course provides introductory knowledge and skills for effective online teaching. There are two primary goals of this course. First, you will receive information about best practices that you will apply in your online classroom. Accessing Library and Information Resources This course provides information on how to access and navigate the TTUHSC El Paso library website.  The IFDP participants will be instructed on how to use the EndNote Online, and Cite While You Write plugin in MS Word documents, write copyright permissions, and identify predatory publishers. 6 Enroll here
Technology of eLearning at TTUHSC El Paso This course serves as a guide to faculty and staff of TTUHSC El Paso in their efforts to begin, enhance, or increase the quality and effectiveness of remote instruction. This course consists of a compilation of resources and basic tips for distance education and serves as an example of course design in Canvas. 8 Enroll here
Inter-Professional Education (IPE) Course The overall goal of this course is to improve and advocate for the strategic use of IPE practices and mechanisms; to become role models in IPCP. By "intentionally working together," the learners will highlight the value of IPE to the teaching and learning processes, and share evidence-based and IPE-based teaching methods and tools. 6 Enroll here
Research Fundamental Research Skills Course This course is an introduction to epidemiology, biostatistics, and social science research. Critical research skills such as study design and basic data analysis will be covered in this course.  11 Enroll here
Grantsmanship Training Course This course will develop your skills in writing grants.  Topics also include sources of research funding and visualizing your data. 0 Enroll here
WIG Course This course will guide the learner through the process of writing a scientific article and submitting it to a peer-reviewed journal. 2.75 Enroll here
Clinical Trials Course In this course, the learner will be exposed to critical concepts in the design and conduct of clinical trials. 0 Enroll here
Clinical Skills Clinical Skills/Simulation Course This Course has eight modules that will give an overview of simulation and its use across all fields of healthcare training.  6.25 Enroll here
Leadership Development Conflict Resolution and Negotiation The overall goal of this course is to introduce you to effective communication and active listening skills. This course will provide you with the tools for effective engagement in difficult conversations, and will teach you how to respond to disruptive behavior, and successfully manage conflict situations.  5 Enroll here
Succeeding and Advancing as Faculty This course serves as a guide through different career stages; from onboarding and early career, to retirement planning. This course also provides tips on how to turn your clinical, educational and administrative work into scholarship, and how to prepare your CV, biosketch and personal statement.  10 Enroll here
Leadership Skills Course This course gives an overview of desired leadership skills. Topics include hiring skills, teambuilding, running successful meetings, strategic planning, and basics of building a budget. 7 Enroll here
