The Doctor of Medicine/Master of Public Health (MD/MPH) degree is a collaborative program between The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (TTUHSC) and The University of Texas School of Public Health (UTSPH). The MD/MPH program will prepare students to integrate medical and public health skills in their professional lives as practitioners and researchers. Combining the MD and MPH degrees prepares students to use the expertise and skills gained in treating individuals toward solving crucial health and healthcare issues faced by communities, regions and entire populations.
Curriculum for MD/MPH:
Shared crediting of some coursework makes it possible for students to complete both degrees at the same time while customizing the program to meet their interests and educational goals. Typically, new coursework begins the summer before medical school. Flexibility in the program allows most students to combine the MPH requirements of a practicum with other learning experiences from the MD program. Students are guided by a Student Advisory Committee comprised of faculty from both participating school programs.
