State Authorization

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. There is currently one state that is not a NC-SARA member.  TTUHSC El Paso continues to work with this state in order to comply with its regulatory requirements authorizing TTUHSC El Paso to deliver online education to students:

California – Allowed for TTUHSC El Paso Distance Education Students
TTUHSC El Paso is exempt from authorization to offer online education in California.

Please see the NC-SARA Policies and Standardsdocument for details of specific authorized activities. Please note that TTUHSC El Paso is not authorized to conduct internships leading to professional licensure without direct coordination with the licensure board in that state. TTUHSC El Paso has implicit or explicit agreement to conduct 100% online learning activities for students in the indicated states. NC-SARA also does NOT include approval by state boards, such as the board of nursing, etc.
