What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? I chose family medicine because of the diversity of the specialty. I love how you can see anyone and anything in any given day.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? I chose El Paso because I love the Southwest sunshine and weather. I also enjoy all the unique cases and challenges that living on the border presents.
Professional/Clinical Interests: I am interested in women’s health and obstetrical care.
Favorite quote/movie/TV show/book: The Harry Potter books and movies
Random fact about yourself: I served 2 years in the Peace Corps in Ecuador.
Plans after Residency: I plan on doing an obstetrics fellowship and to eventually work in global health.

Favorite things to do outside the hospital: My favorite things to do outside the hospital include exploring El Paso and enjoying the mountain views. I also enjoy long distance running, braiding hair, and spending time with friends and family
What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? I chose Family Medicine for the long-term relationships that I am able to have with my patients. Every specialty has its own place and I feel Family Medicine allows me to exercise my passion in patient education, patient advocacy, and preventative medicine in a manner that catalyzes change in the lives of those I care for and their communities.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? I chose El Paso to train for residency in order to prepare for a future in long term global health. I was looking for a program in which I could train in a safety-net hospital, work with disadvantaged patient populations, and give back to people who have roots and backgrounds similar to my own.

What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? Interaction with the community, lifestyle, and the educational/relationship building you have with your patients.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? It is my hometown with all my family. It is also a way of giving back to my community and family that has raised me and given me the opportunities to be where I am now.
Professional/Clinical Interests: Preventative medicine, geriatric care, palliative care, and borderland health.

Favorite things to do outside the hospital: When I am not in the hospital, I like to spend time with loved ones, eat home-made food, and have much needed recreation time in nature.
What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? I chose Family Medicine as my specialty because I like to work with patients of all ages and with different health problems. This specialty allows me to develop a mutual trust with patients and to help them with the rest of their health care and preventive care.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? I wanted to train in El Paso because the El Paso-Juárez metropolitan area is my home.
Professional/Clinical Interests: I am interested in Border health, community health, and preventive medicine.
Favorite quote/movie/TV show/book: My favorite quote (below), by St. Teresa of Avila, was written many years ago, but it helps me get through hard times!

Random fact about yourself: When I was a child, I wanted to work as a veterinarian.
Plans after Residency: After residency, I want to stay in El Paso and continue working as a Family Medicine doctor in this community.

Favorite things to do outside the hospital: I enjoy spending time with my two young sons and husband. We enjoy attending church and cooking. My son and I like to do projects and science experiments. There is never a dull day at home with the blessing of studying medicine and raising a family.
What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? The inherent variety that is present in Family Medicine was very attractive to me. I wanted to learn to help people of all backgrounds and Family Medicine offered me that.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? The warm community and people of El Paso.
Professional/Clinical Interests: I have an interest in learning about socioeconomic disparities in healthcare. I want to learn how to help alleviate disproportionate care in medicine, it is part of the reason I wanted to become a doctor.

Random fact about yourself: I love to dance! I have danced everything from Ballet to Contemporary and Hip-Hop!
Plans after Residency: I plan to continue to work as a physician in El Paso upon completing my training.

What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? The broad scope of practice and variety of skills required to be a Family Medicine physician.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? The people and the culture. Also, the geography. There’s plenty to enjoy in town, but it is an easy drive to completely change your environment whenever you need a little variety.
Professional/Clinical Interests: Sports medicine, Child and adolescent wellness, Obesity prevention and treatment.

What led you to choose Family Medicine as a specialty? The diversity of patients and the long-term relationships I get to build with them. Family medicine also allows me to be flexible and tailor my training and future practice to fit the needs of my community.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency? The people for sure! Everyone is so friendly and supportive. I also want to improve my medical Spanish while working with the underserved and love how there are many opportunities for hiking and exploring nature nearby.
