Sarah Chozet, D.O.
University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Worth, Texas
Hometown: El Paso, Texas
Favorite things to do outside the hospital:
I really enjoy eating (and cooking if I don’t have to wash the dishes), trying out different restaurants around town, and spending time with my husband, dog, family, and friends. I also love the outdoors!
What led you to choose family medicine as a specialty?
Continuity of care and working with the underserved are very important to me, and I feel that family medicine is compatible with both. I felt most at home when doing my family medicine rotations in medical school. I enjoy getting to know people, and as a family medicine physician, I can build strong relationships with my patients.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency?
I love El Paso not only because it’s my hometown; the friendly people, the delicious Mexican food, the sunny weather, and the incredible mountains were beckoning me back. When I interviewed here, everyone was so genuine and kind that it made my decision easy.
Professional/Clinical Interests:
I’m interested in border heath, preventative medicine, outpatient medicine and integrative medicine.
Favorite quote/movie/TV show/book:
Man’s Search for Meaning, by Viktor Frankl
“Love cannot remain by itself – it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service.” -Mother Teresa
Random fact about yourself:
I volunteered at UMC (our residency hospital practice site) when I was 17 years old.
Plans after Residency:
I plan to practice in the El Paso area.
