What led you to choose family medicine as a specialty?
Continuity of care and working with the underserved are very important to me, and I feel that family medicine is compatible with both. I felt most at home when doing my family medicine rotations in medical school. I enjoy getting to know people, and as a family medicine physician, I can build strong relationships with my patients.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency?

Favorite things to do outside the hospital:
My favorite things to do outside of the hospital include exploring the city of El Paso and neighboring cities. If I am not exploring, I enjoy playing guitar, learning new recipes to cook, and traveling internationally (when time affords it).
What led you to choose family medicine as a specialty?
I chose family medicine because I believe that I am called to make an impactful difference in the lives of those I interact with. I knew that FM would allow me to build relationships with individuals that went beyond a one-day visit. Continuity of care is very important to me, and I desire to treat my patients beyond their diseases; I want to get to know what impacts them on the environmental, social, and economic level that either aids or prevents them from access to care. I also loved every specialty that I rotated through, and so FM was a no-brainer.
Why did you choose El Paso to train for residency?
I truly believe that El Paso chose me. On the interview trail, TTUHSC El Paso was my sixth interview and I had 10 more to go; however, I knew that when I arrived, this was a place I could call home. The dinner the night before with the residents answered my questions and the interview day was super fun with the ability of being able to see the city/mountains along with the hospital. I felt a sense of peace when I arrived, and I knew that it was my desire to be at a place that I could feel welcomed and loved through this crazy journey called residency. TTUHSC El Paso was a no-brainer and I ranked it No. 1.
Professional/Clinical Interests:
My desire is to either go into sports medicine or work in outpatient. Being a former athlete, I was definitely interested in the sports medicine program when I researched programs through ERAS and during my interview here. If I do not go into the fellowship, I would like to work at an outpatient clinic.
