The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health

The Doctor of Medicine/Master of Public Health (M.D./M.P.H.) is a collaborative program offered by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM) and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health (SPH). The M.D./M.P.H. program will prepare students to integrate medical and public health skills in their professional lives as practitioners and researchers. Combining the M.D. and M.P.H. degrees prepares students to solve region, community, and population-specific public health issues.

Curriculum:

Shared crediting of some coursework makes it possible for students to complete both degrees simultaneously, while still being able to customize the program to meet their interests and educational goals. Students have the option of combining the M.P.H. practicum requirement with other learning experiences from the M.D. programStudents are guided by a composed of faculty from the two participating schools.

Typically, new coursework begins the summer before medical school.

April 1 - Summer or fall admissions (deadline is subject to change; contact the UTHealth SPH for current deadlines

October 1 - Spring admissions
