Training on the Border and Beyond

El Paso is a vibrant, diverse community with a strong military presence, including:

  • Ft. Bliss, one of the largest U.S. military bases
  • U.S. Border Patrol and DEA operations
  • A patient population that presents with advanced conditions, offering unique learning experiences

Our PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents volunteer in free clinics on weekends, strengthening their community engagement and clinical skills.

Family Medicine Clinic

A Hub for Patient-Centered Care

For over 30 years, Texas Tech Health El Paso Family Medicine has served northeast El Paso.

Our clinic offers:

  • Five patient care areas, including a sports medicine clinic
  • Dedicated procedure and behavioral science rooms
  • Resident spaces, including a lounge and chief residents' office
  • Department offices, classrooms, and administrative areas
  • A Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model

University Medical Center of El Paso

UMC is the largest public hospital on the U.S.-Mexico border and home to:

  • Scherr Legate Level 1 Trauma Center – The only Level 1 trauma facility within 280 miles

El Paso Children’s Hospital

Advanced Pediatric Care

Opened: 2012

Capacity: 122 private pediatric rooms

  • State-of-the-art medical equipment
  • Family-friendly spaces
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Continuity care for pediatric inpatients, laboring women, and post-partum care
