Molecular and Translational Medicine
Welcome to the Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine
Paul L. Foster School of Medicine | Texas Tech Health El Paso The Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine at Texas Tech Health El Paso is dedicated to understanding the fundamental mechanisms of diseases that impact our community and beyond. Our mission is to translate the latest scientific discoveries into preventive measures and effective treatments to improve health outcomes in the Paso del Norte region and across the nation.
A Unique Focus on Population Health
With over 81% of El Paso’s population being Mexican-American, our department is uniquely positioned to study the health challenges that disproportionately affect Latino communities.
By investigating these conditions through a distinctive demographic lens, our research has the potential to create broad national and global health impacts.
Centers of Emphasis
Cancer
The Center of Emphasis in Cancer is dedicated to applying cutting-edge research methodologies and technologies to advance cancer research, prevention, and intervention.
Infectious Diseases
The Center of Emphasis in Infectious Diseases is dedicated to expanding research capacity in key areas of border-population health.
Neurosciences
The Center of Emphasis in Neurosciences (COE-N) is dedicated to pioneering research in genetics, psychiatric disorders, neurodevelopment, and optic trauma.
