Information for Applicants

Thank you for your interest in our Family Medicine Residency Program at Texas Tech Health El Paso! We're excited about the possibility of you joining our team.

Easy! Applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

You'll need to submit:

  • ERAS Application
  • Personal Statement
  • Official USMLE/COMLEX Transcripts
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Dean's Letter
  • Three Letters of Recommendation (one from a Family Physician)
    • If not in medical school: Letter from current supervising physician

We recommend submitting your application by Sept. 25 to ensure timely consideration.

We welcome applications from:

  • Graduates of LCME-accredited U.S./Canadian medical schools.
  • Graduates of AOA-accredited U.S. osteopathic schools.

International medical graduates are also eligible with:

  • Valid ECFMG certificatee.
  • One year of U.S. clinical experience (excludes observerships, externships, research).

  • You don't need specific scores to apply.
  • However, passing scores on Step 1/Level 1 and Step 2 CK/Level 2 CE are required for program ranking.
  • Step 3/Level 3 CE is not required for application or acceptance.

No, Spanish proficiency is not required. Translation services are available.

You'll experience a full day in El Paso, including a welcome dinner, a tour of our facilities, lunch, and interviews with our faculty and residents.

Interviews are held on Mondays and Fridays, typically from November to January.

You'll receive an interview invitation via Thalamus.
