The Texas Tech Health El Paso Family Medicine Residency Program is an ACGME-accredited program with a comprehensive curriculum. The program consists of 13 four-week block rotations per academic year, complemented by longitudinal experiences and didactics.

PGY-1 Longitudinal Family Medicine Curriculum

On the fourth Tuesday of each block, PGY-1 residents take a break from their clinical duties to attend the longitudinal family medicine curriculum. These sessions include:

  • Clinic and practice management
  • High-yield family medicine topics for both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Wellness activities aimed at preparing PGY-1 residents for the transition to PGY-2 and beyond

Longitudinal Experience (PGY-1, PGY-2, PGY-3)

Throughout the residency program, residents participate in longitudinal experiences that run across all years:

  • PCMH/CQI/Practice Management
  • Behavioral Medicine
  • Dermatology
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Family Medicine Practice Pediatric Clinic (PGY-2, PGY-3)
  • Geriatrics/Nursing Home
  • Office Procedures (PGY-2, PGY-3)
  • Obstetrics Prenatal Care
  • Pharmacy and Therapeutics
  • Wellness

Didactics

Resident Conferences:
Every Thursday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., residents participate in weekly didactic sessions. These sessions are designed to enhance clinical knowledge, practice management skills, and overall well-being.
