Q: How do I get to the GGHSON?

Q: Is the GGHSON accredited?
A: Yes, the M.S.N. program at the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing (GGHSON) is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

 

Admission FAQs

Q: What does a competitive GGHSON M.S.N. applicant look like?
A:

  • Strong academic record and aptitude for graduate-level coursework.
  • Clear articulation of career goals and understanding of the advanced nursing role.
  • Demonstrated potential for leadership, service, and scholarship in nursing.

 

Q: Is there an expiration on previous coursework?
A: While all previous coursework is considered, the M.S.N. curriculum builds on foundational science and nursing concepts. If it’s been more than five years since you took essential courses, you’ll want to ensure you have maintained a solid understanding of that material.

Q: Are there prerequisite courses?
A: Yes. A three-semester-credit-hour (or four-quarter-credit-hour) Statistics course is required. Please see Admission Requirements for more details.

Q: Can I take the prerequisite course at a community college or online?
A: Yes. The course just needs to be from a regionally accredited institution.

Q: Must I have completed the prerequisite course prior to applying?
A: No, but you must provide evidence of successful completion before starting the program.

Q: If I do not have a bachelor’s in nursing, may I still apply?
A: Please contact the GGHSON Office of Student Affairs for guidance.

Q: Is the GRE required?
A: Not at this time.

Q: Is there an application deadline?
A: Yes. Visit How to Apply for details.

Q: Is financial aid available?
A: Yes. Complete the FAFSA for loans, grants, and scholarships. A completed FAFSA is also required to be considered for GGHSON scholarships.

Q: Are scholarship opportunities available?
A: Yes. Contact the GGHSON Office of Student Affairs for more information.

Q: If I’m offered admission, can I defer my acceptance?
A: If you’re unsure about starting in the admitted semester, contact the GGHSON Office of Student Affairs to discuss your options.

 

Program-Specific FAQs

Q: Is full-time study available?
A: Currently, the M.S.N. program is offered part-time, with six academic credits each semester in an online format.

Q: Will I be required to come to campus?
A: No. Courses are delivered online, although faculty are available on campus if you need support or advisement.

Q: Will I have to take courses over the summer session?
A: Yes. Coursework continues through each academic semester, including summer.

Q: What is the cost of the program?
