Residency Application Requirements and Instructions
Application Submission:
- All applicants must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Required Documents:
- Medical School Transcript: Notarized copy in the original language (and translation if IMG).
- Dean's Letter: Copy in the original language (and translation if IMG).
- USMLE Transcript: Applicants must have completed Step 2 CS and CK (IMG applicants must also complete Step 3).
- Letters of Recommendation:
- Three required.
- If the applicant has prior U.S. residency training, a letter from the program director must be included as a fourth letter.
- Curriculum Vitae: Must be current and in chronological order.
- Personal Statement.
- Medical School Diploma: Notarized copy in the original language (and translation if IMG).
- For Mexican schools, include front and back of diplomas with a stamp from Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP).
- ECFMG Certificate: Must be current for the appointment year.
- Clinical Rotation Affidavit: Required for IMGs if rotations were completed in an LCME-accredited medical school.
Additional Requirements:
- Visa Sponsorship: Texas Tech sponsors J-1 Visas only.
- Immigration Documentation: Proof of immigration status (if not a U.S. citizen) must be current for the appointment year.
- Medical Practice License: Copy of license to practice medicine in your home country, translated if necessary.
- Background Check: All applicants are subject to a background check prior to starting residency.
For International Medical Graduates (IMGs):
- Immigration documentation must be valid and current before residency begins.
