The Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC), implements five key mental health initiatives:

  • Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT)
  • Workforce Expansion Programs (CAP and CPWE)

Key Programs and Initiatives

Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN)

CPAN provides primary care providers and pediatricians with:

  • Telephonic consultations on child and adolescent mental health concerns.
  • Referrals to mental health care providers.
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities.

Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT)

TCHATT provides telemedicine services to public school students in mental health crises by:

  • Supporting school personnel in identifying at-risk students.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments.
  • Delivering brief treatment and referrals through telehealth.

Workforce Expansion

  • Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE):
    Academic medical directors and resident rotations at community mental health facilities.
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowships (CAP):
    Fellowship positions to train future specialists in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Research Initiatives

The TCMHCC coordinates mental health research across state university systems to align with the statewide behavioral health strategic plan.
