Research
Research is a cornerstone of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation, and our efforts continue to expand with the addition of new faculty and staff. Our department is committed to advancing orthopaedic knowledge and improving care for our community, particularly in the unique environment of El Paso.
Our Team and Growth
- Faculty: Seven (7) dedicated faculty members conducting research across diverse orthopaedic specialties.
- Support: A skilled research coordinator facilitating projects and collaborations.
- Future Goals: As patient and research needs grow, we aim to expand our department further.
Unique Research Opportunities in El Paso
El Paso’s status as a border city offers a distinctive population with unique orthopaedic injuries and conditions. Our research focuses on improving care and outcomes for this special community through innovative clinical and scientific inquiry.
Collaboration and Training
Our department fosters a collaborative research environment for:
- Residents: As part of the combined Residency Program, residents engage in impactful research with both Texas Tech Health El Paso and WBAMC faculty mentorship.
- Medical Students: First-year medical students (MS1s) have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful research projects, many of which can fulfill their Student Academic Research Project (SARP) requirements.
