Research & Scholarly Activity

The Texas Tech Health El Paso Residency Program fosters and encourages resident scholarly activity. As part of ACGME requirements, residents participate in at least one research project during their three-year residency, with many engaging in multiple projects.

Resident Research & Publications

  • Quality Improvement Initiatives
  • Participation in funded and non-funded basic science or clinical outcomes research
  • Abstracts, posters, and presentations at national and regional conferences
  • Grand rounds, journal club, and case presentations
  • Book chapters and textbook contributions

We work closely with faculty and residents to provide research opportunities during training, preparing those interested in academic and research-focused careers. Residents gain foundational skills in evidence-based medicine, as well as legal, ethical, and regulatory principles in clinical practice.
