Global Health Conference
The Global Health Conference brings together health care professionals, educators, researchers, students, and community partners to explore health challenges that extend across borders and communities. The conference provides a forum for examining transnational and global health issues, their determinants, and potential solutions, while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among professionals and organizations working to improve health locally and globally. This purpose has remained central to the conference since its inception in 2019.
Each year, invited experts and community partners address timely issues affecting population health. Past conferences have explored topics such as infectious diseases, environmental and planetary health, climate change, health equity, humanitarian health, vaccination, trauma, substance use, and the social determinants of health. Conference programming connects global perspectives with challenges experienced in communities, including those along the U.S.-Mexico border
The conference also creates opportunities for interprofessional learning, research exchange, networking, and collaboration. Programming may include keynote presentations, expert-led sessions and panels, networking opportunities, and International Flash Talk presentations highlighting global health research and initiatives. Recent conferences, for example, have incorporated networking lunches and International Flash Talk presentations alongside the educational sessions.
Target Audience
The Global Health Conference is designed for health care professionals, faculty, researchers, students, trainees, public health professionals, community organization staff, and others interested in global and border health.
Through interdisciplinary education and discussion, the conference seeks to strengthen connections across professions and organizations and encourage participants to consider how global health knowledge, research, and partnerships can inform solutions within their own professions and communities.
