The Global and Rural Psychiatry Track at Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain expertise in cultural psychiatry, mental health policy, and the delivery of care in low-resource settings. Our program is committed to developing compassionate psychiatrists who serve diverse communities with a global perspective.

Comprehensive Curriculum: Training includes continuity care at Ysleta del sur Pueblo Tigua Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic, telemedicine initiatives, and political asylum evaluation training.

Cultural Competency: Learn to provide culturally sensitive care through workshops, journal clubs, and the annual Cultural Competency Conference.

Research Opportunities: Complete a scholarly or community project that can be presented at conferences or merit publication.

Global and Rural Focus: Address mental health disparities and develop expertise in serving populations in rural Texas and international settings.
- Training Ground: El Paso, located at the U.S.-Mexico border, offers a rich multicultural environment
for training. The Paso del Norte region boasts the largest bilingual and binational
workforce in the Western Hemisphere and a strong presence of Native American, military,
and refugee communities. Fellows gain invaluable experience working in this dynamic
setting.
