The Department of Neurology at Texas Tech Health El Paso is the largest and longest-standing neuroscience practice in El Paso. Our mission is to advance neurological research and care for the unique population along the U.S.–Mexico border

- 9 Principal Investigators and 6 Full-Time Research Nurse Practitioners.
- Expanding faculty to meet the growing demand for neurological specialists in West
Texas.
Active Studies:
- 14 Clinical Trials (Phase II–IV).
- 8 Humanitarian Device Studies and 2 National Clinical Registries.
- Focus areas include stroke, traumatic brain injury, fibromuscular dysplasia, peripheral
nerve disorders, and investigational oral factor inhibitors.
Collaborative Efforts:
- Partnerships with University Medical Center of El Paso and The Hospitals of Providence El Paso.
- Compliance with GCP and IRB standards for rigorous, ethical research.
Our Vision for Research
Our department aims to become the foremost neurology research center in the Southwest by:
- Providing protected research time and formal mentoring for faculty and residents.
- Expanding telehealth services to rural communities in the West Texas region.
- Securing external federal, state, and local grant funding.
- Addressing regional health needs during the COVID-19 era and beyond.
