About Us
The Department of Family Medicine – Transmountain at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, advancing medical education, and serving our diverse communities. Our faculty and residents work collaboratively to enhance healthcare access and improve lives across the region.

Mission Statement
At the Department of Family Medicine – Transmountain, we are committed to addressing healthcare disparities in our region, where access to care is limited, preventive care is often overlooked, and the number of primary care providers is insufficient. To correct these inequities, we dedicate ourselves to:
✅ Educating & Training Future Providers – Inspiring students, residents, and fellows
to strengthen the local primary care workforce.
✅ Delivering Compassionate, Culturally Sensitive Care – Providing holistic, healing
services tailored to our community’s needs.
✅ Collaborating for Community Impact – Partnering with organizations to reduce healthcare
disparities and enhance well-being.
✅ Advancing Research & Scholarship – Ensuring our community’s unique needs are represented
in innovative healthcare research.

Vision Statement
We strive to be a recognized leader in academic family medicine, improving lives through:
🌟 Innovative Patient Care – Advancing healthcare practices for better patient outcomes.
📚 Excellence in Education – Training the next generation of compassionate, skilled
providers.
🔬 Pioneering Research – Conducting studies that enhance primary care and address local
needs.
🤝 Collaborative Community Service – Strengthening partnerships to nurture a healthier,
more equitable future.
Welcome to the Department of Family Medicine – Transmountain. Our department rests on a hillside overlooking the communities of El Paso, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Ciudad Juárez. We serve a diverse population from both the surrounding, suburban area of West El Paso, as well as physician shortage areas extending across the surrounding state borders. Our mission seeks to elevate the quality of life to those in need of our services, by the discovery of best care practices and implementing that care through our physicians and staff. Our vision is simple: become a model of compassionate, quality care that others seek to emulate.
Unique among medical schools, the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine has the advantage of housing two distinct yet equal departments of family medicine, one located at Kenworthy, and one at Transmountain. As our enrollment has grown, so has our need to expand both faculty and facilities. The Department of Family Medicine – Transmountain is a solution to that need. Our two family medicine departments collaborate, each with a niche bringing value to the school and the community. Both departments actively teach medical students and have the full support of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. We are accepting new patients through our appointment line at 915-215-8400.
Together, we are making quality health care more accessible, improving lives in the Borderland and beyond.
