Licensure
Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE)
Though requirements vary from state to state, all applicants for dental licensure in the United States must meet three basic requirements: an education requirement, a written examination requirement and a clinical examination requirement.
The Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE) is used to assist dental boards in determining the qualifications of individuals who seek licensure to practice dentistry. This examination is the written requirement for dental licensure which integrates content from the biomedical, behavioral, and clinical sciences.

Dental State Board
Once a student meets the educational and National Board Dental Examination requirements, the next step is to take the appropriate clinical dental licensing examination, if such an exam is required for licensure in your state. Clinical exams are developed and administered by dental clinical testing agencies at dental schools. Most states participate in one or more regional examining boards, and a few administer their own exams. Unlike the written examinations, which are fairly standard, clinical exams may vary.
