Insurance

As a state agency, Texas Tech Health El Paso offers insurance benefits through the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS). The benefit plans range from health, to life, to disability insurances. Below are links to our insurance offerings, as well as other benefits available to our employees.

  • Delta Dental

Information for the State of Texas Dental Choice Plan and the DeltaCare USA DHMO plan. Includes plan fact sheets, member handbooks, and find a provider option.

Please note that for DeltaCare (DHMO) coverage, you must use network providers and designate a primary care dentist (PCD). Dental providers for this plan are not available in all coverage areas. Before you enroll, make sure there is a DHMO network dentist in your area who will accept this type of coverage.

  • Optional Term Life and AD&D (ERS)

Information on the optional Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance policies. Includes a life insurance calculator and master plan documents.

Please note that for Optional Term Life Insurance, elections for 1 or 2 times your salary are available during the initial enrollment period without evidence of insurability (EOI). After your first month, you can apply with EOI during Summer Enrollment or with a qualifying life event (QLE). Elections of 3 or 4 times your salary always require EOI. Since elections for 3 and 4 times your salary always requires an EOI, team members interested in electing one of these options should also go back and enter an election of 2 times their salary immediately after the enrollment in elections for 3 or 4, in case the EOI is denied.

  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability (ERS)

Includes information on filing a claim, the plan documents, and forms to file a claim.

Retirement

Benefits-eligible employees are automatically enrolled as members in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Faculty and some positions are eligible to opt out of TRS and enroll in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). To maximize your retirement savings, we also offer two supplemental retirement options, a 403(b) plan and 457 plan.
